Home Alone On Thanksgiving
48Everyday holds a blessing... if you look for it!
Today is Thanksgiving... AND For the very first time in my life I spent it at home alone with my kittens. To top it off, I am nursing a wicked cold I just caught! Sounds dreadful, I know. But I gotta tell ya... this ain't so bad at all! Now I am actually thankful for catching this virus?! Reason being... this Thanksgiving I was blessed to just be me and explore who that really is! No need to shower and run off. It was me taking care of me and remembering so many family & friends from past Thanksgivings I had the pleasure to share this joyous occasion with.
This is something I never seem to take time for. Reflection! So much gets taken for granted... even spending holidays with people we love apparently. For I never really appreciated any of it until today. Today I am reminded of how much I do love and care. I'm not that ice princesss I pretend to be at all! And once I changed my focus to times of laughter, I swear I began to feel better!
A simple shift in focus makes all the difference. Once I changed my feelings of self pity to feelings of gratitude for all that I have... the list kept growing! I still have a very bad cold, but I no longer feel bad. I realize good thoughts leads to good feelings!
I stayed connected to loved ones via phone and computer. Had the entire laundry room to myself and found time to write this! Writing is something I have always felt passionate about and don't seem to find enough time for. Now I can get some more rest and hopefully be able to enjoy a busy work day tomorrow.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!
